If you want to lose weight without really feeling like you’re on a diet then South beach by Coffee crew is theRead More
The South Beach Diet was created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a preventive cardiologist from the US. His goal was to reduce cardio and vascular illness by teaching his patients to eat healthy. He later realized that going on this new healthy diet would have weight loss as a positive “side effect”. Since this diet will teach you to eat right and eat healthy, you will be able to lose the weight and keep it off. You will develop a lifestyle towards overall improved health. While on this diet, you will not count calories nor weigh your food. You will have sensible portions of good fats and carbs. You will not feel deprived as you will be allowed to eat the right kinds of food until your hunger is satisfied. You will even be allowed to indulge in treats minus the guilt. The South Beach Diet uses BMI as a guide to its 3 phases. BMI or Body Mass Index is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.
The first two weeks will modify your body chemistry by controlling your cravings for sugars and starches. You will eat 3 full meals a day, a morning snack, afternoon snack and even dessert. You will start shedding off pounds and will see changes in inches as well.
The next 2 weeks will allow you to reintroduce the “good carbs” into your diet— fruits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread and high fiber cereals and grains. You will learn to avoid the carbs that increase your blood sugar and make you gain weight. You’ll stay in Phase 2 until you reach your ideal weight.
By this time, you would have already improved your blood chemistry significantly. This phase will ensure your success and help you avoid the “seesaw syndrome” that usually happens once you get off fad diets. You would have already acquired preference for good carbs and learned to substitute them for the unhealthy ones without feeling deprived.
